Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer reportedly not dating despite rumor5 minute read

It’s no secret that the show, “Friends” captivated audiences everywhere in its ten-year runs and continues to get great ratings during reruns. Maybe that has to do with how unbelievable wholesome the show manages to be despite its humor, but it is a hard show to put down after you start watching.  With that being said, the on-again-off-again relationship between Rachel Green and Ross Geller is probably what made the program the instant classic it was today.

From Ross admitting his crush on Rachel in the opening episode of the show to their final onscreen kiss in the series finale,  the storyline had that unmistakable appeal to it that was hard to not watch. Interestingly enough, Schwimmer and Aniston recently did the Friends reunion together and admitted that they did have feelings for each other throughout the series, but never managed to be available at the same time.

“At some point, we were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship,” Schwimmer admitted during the tell-all reunion on HBO Max. “And we never crossed that boundary. We respected that, and—but we not.”

Before Schwimmer got a chance to finish his statement, Matt Leblanc pretended to cough and mumbled, “bullshit,” which forced the audience to gasp and laugh. While the move was something out of the beloved sitcom itself, it really left fans hanging on to every word that Schwimmer and Aniston said after that.

“Honestly, I remember saying one time to David, It’s gonna be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is gonna be on national television,” Aniston admitted after Leblanc’s interruption. “Sure enough, first time we kissed was in that coffee shop [Central Perk]. So we just channeled all our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel.”

British tabloid, The Closer, published a rumor that claimed Schwimmer and Aniston got so caught up in reminiscing during the reunion, that they were spending more time together. Friends fans freaked out over the rumor and rushed to social media to ship them for what feels like the millionth time. It was a nice moment of togetherness though.

“They’ve been spending time at Jen’s home, where she’s cooked dinners in the evenings, and have enjoyed quality time together, chatting and laughing,” the Closer claimed in their article. “They were also spotted drinking wine, deep in conversation, as they walked around one of Jen’s favourite vineyards in Santa Barbara, where it was clear there was lots of chemistry between them.”

Despite these rumors, a representative for Schwimmer has come out claiming that Aniston and Schwimmer are not in any kind of romantic relationship. Although the rep didn’t exactly clarify what they meant by that, it does seem to create doubt when it comes to whether they are dating or not. 2 more tabloids have come forward stating the rumor is false, but it’s still not known how much salt they hold.

Another interesting wrinkle in all this is reporting that Aniston is dating again and has her eye on a certain type of guy according to Us Weekly. Whether Schwimmer fits that description or not really is up for debate, but what if the two were just catching up and reminiscing about old times? What if this was just a way to reconnect as friends and talk?

“Eventually, after a lot of reflection, Jen decided to let loose and start dating again,” the source said. “Jen is way more impressed by guys who are unaffected and have their heads screwed on straight than the flashy, braggy types who are all over Hollywood. What she looks for above everything these days is kindness, humor, and good looks, of course, but more than anything, she’s after chemistry.”

In the end, fans of the iconic show are always going to want to see Aniston and Schwimmer together and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. They were just such a polarizing couple that it created a sort of cult-like fanbase that is always going to want this. What actually happens is still up for debate though, but it still seems like they were just hanging out.
