The President has not only an obligation to the American voters but also a constitutional right to nominate a new Justice when a seat becomes vacant.

There’s a reason why there are nine seats on the SCOTUS. It prevents a deadlock split. A tiebreaker vote is always available. With a seat currently vacant, that’s not possible. A tie dramatically complicates things. It’s essential to fill the void with a qualified candidate without delay.
