Just heard about the magical plant called Kratom? Want to learn more about it? You’re in the right place my friend! I’ve been taking Kratom for almost a year now. Taking 1-3 doses of 4-6 grams per day. My doses really depend on my pain level and what I need to do for the day. In this guide, I will go over vendors, dosages, how to take Kratom, strains and colors. So you can decide if you’d like to give Kratom a try for yourself. So let’s get into it!
What is Kratom?
Kratom is a natural plant that grows in many parts of Southeast Asia. Such as Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and various other areas. It’s been used by the village’s workers for decades to help with inflammation, soar muscles, pain, to sleep and much more. After working in the fields for the better part of the day, the workers would simply pluck a few leaves from one of the many Kratom trees in the forests, chew the leaves and get relief in minutes.
Only recently Americans started using Kratom in their everyday health and well-being rituals. Many also use Kratom to help with opiate addiction, pain, insomnia, anxiety and much more.
What’s with the names?
Some vendors will rename their Kratom to reflect their company or strictly for marketing purposes. For example, sellers sometimes think that if they put the word ”super” in front of a strains name, it will sell more. When in reality it’s just Green Malaysian.
Also, you can normally tell what region the Kratom is from simply by the name. For example, Green Malay is from Malaysia. Or Red Hulu Kapuas is from the Kapuas river in Indonesia.
What are the different Kratom colors and what do they mean?
So, there are three main colors of Kratom. Those are as follows:
Red: sedating, calming effect, they say this is best for someone coming off of opiates. Good for sleep.
Green: in between the red and white. More energetic, perfect for a laid-back type of work environment (office), great for a painkiller while at work. Won’t make you sleepy.
White: energy, mood boost, focus, the pain killing effects are not very great with the whites. Some people use white strains for a pre-workout or an alternative to energy drinks.
Now, there are other colors that are not natural colors. Meaning their drying process is longer, which turns the color a different shade of whatever the original color was. Those tend to be more potent.
Gold also known as Chocolate: similar to reds, these are stronger, fantastic for pain in moderate-high doses, great for sleep is higher doses, very relaxing. I only recommend Golds to Kratom users that have built up a tolerance and other colors aren’t working as well anymore, or for those who don’t feel much with the regular colors.
Yellow: similar to the whites, just not as stimulating and energizing. A great mix between euphoria and mood lift.
How do I take Kratom?
Kratom is sold in powder, Capsulized powder, in gummies, and little shots (like a 5 Hour Energy). I mainly use powder. I feel it kicks in much faster and is more effective for me. The powder is also cheaper. I also take a higher dose due to my pain level and tolerance. When you start out trying Kratom, I recommend trying capsules first since your dose will be low. I recommend a beginner take 2-2.5 grams their first try. Wait about 30-45 minutes. If you don’t feel anything, then take another gram. You can always take more, but you can never take less. It’s also recommended to take Kratom on an empty or semi-empty stomach to maximize its effects. This is especially important if you’re taking capsules.
If you take Kratom in powder form you’ll notice that it tastes absolutely terrible. Try mixing it with Orange Juice like I do. It really covers up the taste quite well. The citrus also acts like a booster of some sorts to make the Kratom work a little more efficiently. Cranberry and Apple juice works well too.
What’s a good Kratom strain for beginners?
Green Maeng Da: this is one of the most popular strains of Kratom. Many say you can’t go wrong with MD. My recommendation for dosage: 2 grams.
Red Bali: the second most popular strain. This is a great introduction to red Kratom. My recommendation for dosage: 2 grams 1 hour before bed.
What are some good Kratom Vendors?
This is one of the most important aspects when using Kratom. There are hundreds and probably thousands of Kratom online vendors. I’ve tried a number of them and here is my top 5 Kratom vendors online.
1. Happy Hippo
Happy Hippo is my go to for high quality Kratom. Once you get past the funny names, you get some very good quality Kratom. Now, the pricing is a bit high. But it’s worth it, if you can afford it
Gaia’s has a huge selection is phenomenal. The prices are as well. As for the quality. Overall it is good. I still order from them. But some batches aren’t as good as others.
Kata Botanicals are great. The quality of great and the pricing is ok. But the problem is they’re always out of stock. And when they do have it in stock, they still take almost 2 weeks after the order was placed to get to me.
Normally, as a bit of a rule of mine. I never buy Kratom from local smoke shops. I’ve found that the quality is not as good and the Kratom is always way overpriced.
Things to remember.
Kratom is a safe natural plant that has been used by humans across the world for thousands of years. You will start to hear chatter – mainly from the FDA – that Kratom has killed dozens of people and is very unsafe. But that simply is not true. I’ve done the research on those supposed “Kratom Deaths” and they are not from Kratom. In virtually every case, the toxicology report showed a number of drugs in the person’s system.
I urge you to check out, follow and support the American Kratom Association (AKA). They have been fighting endlessly to keep Kratom legal. They do great work.
You can read the hundreds of positive Kratom testimonials I put together a few months ago right here. There are some amazing stories in there.
