My knee-jerk reaction to the POTUS’ “Shithole” comment.
"Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?”
Allegedly President Trump asked “Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?”. Here’s my knee-jerk reaction!
Listen, I’m completely behind my President, Donald Trump. So let me make that very clear. This is not me giving in to the left’s pressure of “he’s a terrible person!” Or “25th amendment coming!”. After I got home from work earlier, my normal routine is to take a shower, and eat; while eating I watch Fox news as well as scrolling through some independent news outlets.
Then I see the infamous Fox’s “Breaking tonight” banner come on the screen. And it also read something like “POTUS under fire for “shithole countries remark”. So I was intrigued. I needed to know more.
Come to find out it was allegedly said in a closed door meeting on DACA with Lindsey Graham and a few other senators. And the quote was:
“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?”
Later that day at the daily press briefing Sarah Huckabee-Sanders was asked about the “shithole” comment. Her response was this:
“Certain Washington politicians choose to fight for foreign countries, but President Trump will always fight for the American people,” Mr. Shah said. “Like other nations that have merit-based immigration, President Trump is fighting for permanent solutions that make our country stronger by welcoming those who can contribute to our society, grow our economy and assimilate into our great nation.”
Notice how she didn’t deny it was said? That’s what’s worrying me! I’m sure tomorrow we will have an official comment released from The White House or from President Trump himself. But as it sits right now, I’m skeptical, because it’s coming from the NY Times. But if it hangs true, it would be a distraction we don’t need.
