The new Marvel’s “The Punisher” Netflix series is amazing

Jon Bernthal nails it as Frank Castle

Let me first start off by saying The Punisher is my favorite Marvel character, so I may be a little biased. But I will give my honest opinion on the show…

At the beginning of the show I thought it may be a little disappointing because it started off kind of heavily explaining Frank Castle’s backstory. And because of Daredevil season 2, the audience already knows that. But thankfully they were brief. But it did go into great detail on what Castle did overseas. And why he is so messed up. They explained it well over the course of a few episodes. So it’s not forced down your throat.

“Microchip” is a genius. And a great character.

I love Punisher but I haven’t read a TON of the comics. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve read quite a bit, but have never heard of Microchip. But he makes a fantastic character on the show. And from what I have read on his origins, they really nailed him on the show. Although his backstory is a bit changed.

No Daredevil appearances.

I was half hoping to see a Daredevil appearance, or even Foggy, but we got Karen ?. Although Karen wasn’t in the show much, but just enough to help out Frank. This show is based in the same time frame and universe of Daredevil. So they flash back to his trial from time to time, and talk about the past. But Daredevil is never mentioned or brought up.

Overall: my take

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this show. I was disappointed that there are only 13 episodes. But they really tell a story with those episodes. It shows Frank Castle as a man, a Marine, a father, a husband and a vigilante. They really don’t hold back as far as blood, guts and violence. Which is awesome. I can’t wait to see what they do with Billy Russo..

My rating: 8/10 | I highly recommend this show!
