I’ve had a faux hawk for well over 5 years, anytime I dress nicely I do my hair. I use to do it everyday but I started working in a warehouse and didn’t see a point. But I’m not working in a business casual job. So I now have my hair done everyday. The faux hawk style has been around for almost a decade, there are different variations for the faux hawk, some like the greasy, matte look, some like the “just out of bed” look. Me personally I love the natural look, so I don’t use any gel and very little hair spray. So this is how I do my perfect dry look faux hawk.
Cream Pomade by Baxter of California
I use cream pomade for my faux hawk because I want that natural dry look, for it to appear to have no type of product in it. This Pomade by Baxter of California is a great great product and perfect for that natural look, and it’s really easy to work with.
TRESemme’s Tres Two Spray
Depending on your hair type, and how thick your hair is, it may need a little hairspray just to keep it holding all day long. I use ONLY non aerosol hair sprayer. I use TRESemme’s Tres Two Spray. It adds a little bit more hold to it, and doesn’t make it look greasy.
Leave It In
Now for the final trick, a little secret I do. What I do is leave the pomade in for 4 days. Then was and conditioner your hair, then put it back in. So yes, I only clean my hair every 4 days. Many people don’t understand that you aren’t suppose to clean your hair everyday, it strips the natural oils from your hair. Plus by leaving it in for a few days you don’t have to wake up and do your hair everyday, this is going to save you a lot of time, and the longer the pomade is in there the better it looks.
