Jordy Nelson suffered two fractured ribs following an illegal hit during Sunday’s NFC wild-card game vs. the Giants. Giants cornerback Leon Hall was not flagged on the play, although he clearly led with the crown of his helmet into a defenceless receiver. Even the announcers Joe Buck and Troy Aikman both said it was a dirty hit and should gave been called. Nelson was very clearly in a lot of pain, he was down for several minutes, then when he got off to get on the cart, he still showed much pain and discomfort.

Update: Jordy Nelson may play against the Cowboys

Head coach Mike McCarthy said earlier today at a press conference (Monday) that he (Jordy) was in the hospital after the game and for most of Sunday. But he has since been released since and is working hard with the rehab team. McCarthy says Jordy Nelson will most likely miss practice all week due to rehab, however he still has a chance at playing at Dallas. The plan to keep Nelson sidelined in practice focusing on rehab and shoot for Saturday practice. “If he can practice Saturday, he plays” – Mike McCarthy

Obviously Jordy is a playmaker, and we are not the same without him. However with that being said I am very confident with our young receiving group and the veteran Randall Cobb. We have Cobb and Jared Cook (TE), and young studs like Devante Adams, Geronimo Allison and Ty Montgomery, so I have great confidence in the other receivers if Jordy cannot go.
