Federal judge overturns President Trump’s travel ban5 minute read

"The Constitution prevailed today, no one is above the law not even the President."

Friday, Federal Judge James Robart, who sits in Seattle, blocked enforcement of the executive order nationwide. Robart, a judge appointed by George W. Bush in 2013, and is pro-Black Lives Matter, is clearly trying to undermine President Trump with this overturn. His claim and reasoning behind this is because Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed suit three days after president Trump signed the executive order, saying that the travel ban “targets Muslims and violates constitutional rights of immigrants and their families.”

“The Constitution prevailed today,” Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson, said in a statement after the ruling. “No one is above the law – not even the President.”

“It’s our president’s duty to honor this ruling and I’ll make sure he does,” Ferguson added.

The funny thing about this suit is that Ferguson said that the executive order violates the constitutional rights of immigrants, but this ban only prevents people from coming into the United States, therefore our constitution does not apply to them as they are not US citizens. Also the argument that this targets Muslims is not accurate. The executive order says nothing about Muslims, it is simply due to the terroristic threat they present.

Here are the 7 countries that are on the temporary ban list and they’re Muslim population….

  • Iran: 99.6% Muslim
  • Iraq: 60% Muslim
  • Libya: 97% Muslim
  • Somalia: 99% Muslim
  • Sudan: 97% Muslim
  • Syria: 89% Muslim
  • Yemen: 56% Muslim

Countries that are NOT on the list…

  • Afghanistan: 99.8% Muslim
  • Pakistan: 96.4% Muslim
  • Bangladesh: 90% Muslim
  • Turkey: 99.6% Muslim
  • Algeria: 99% Muslim
  • Egypt: 90% Muslim

So if this temporary travel ban targeted Muslims, wouldn’t these countries be on the list? Also it’s important to note that Barack Obama and his administration selected the 7 countries and made the list, Trump simply executed it.

The White House released this statement after the overturn…..

“At the earliest possible time, the Department of Justice intends to file an emergency stay of this order and defend the executive order of the President, which we believe is lawful and appropriate”.

“The president’s order is intended to protect the homeland and he has the constitutional authority and responsibility to protect the American people.”

Ultimately this will be overturned and the travel ban will be enforced.
