The Green Bay Packers drafted nose tackle from UCLA Kenny Clark with their first pick in the 2016 NFL draft. Clark was a highly respected defensive linemen coming out of the draft. I thought among other Packers fans thought it was a great pick at the time. But with the 2016 regular season in the bag, Clark has yet to make any sort of impact on defense. So the question really remains was it a wasted draft pick? Is he a bust?
Let’s take a look at what he did this season…
- Games played: 16
- Combined tackles: 21
- Tackles: 13
- Assisted tackles: 8
- Sacks: 0
- Pass deflects: 2
- Fumble recovery: 2
Those are really bad stats to say the least. We all know that the transition from college to the pro’s takes time, but you need to prove your worth being a number one draft pick. You have to show flashes throughout the season. And Clark has yet to show any signs of value. We drafted Clark to fill the role of veteran nose tackle B.J. Raji, so I understand those are big shoes to fill, but come on. His number is NEVER being called, he’s kind of just there. And that isn’t what you want from a number one draft pick.
I give Kenny Clark a rookie season grade of a D-. Hopefully Kenny Clark can pickup the pace in the post season run. I’d love to hear you thoughts in the Facebook comment section below!
